Come out of the main concourse of the station and turn left.
At the end, turn right onto the Hatfield Road
At the traffice lights turn left into Clarence Road.
Keep going until you reach a ridiculous mini-roundabout - straight on into Charmouth
Road.
(or for a pleasanter walk, you can go left a little way down the Hatfield Road and then into Clarence Park to cut off the corner)
A1 - leave at Jn.3
Take 1st exit off roundabout - down the dual carriage way until you reach a
long chicane-like roundabout. Take the first right exit at the far end of this
construction.
Keep going until you reach a mini-roundabout where turn right; then at the
nearby T-junction, turn left onto the main road.
You will reach a double-mini-roundabout. Don't go onto the second mini-roundabout,
just go straight over the first into a residential road.
At the T-junction, turn left into Sandpit lane. Soon there is a mini-roundabout
- turn right into Charmouth Road.
Leave the motorway at M1, Jn6 and follow the signs to St. Albans (A405).
At the roundabout where the M10 ends, do not follow the signs to St.Albans -
go right down the A414.
Follow the 'South of St. Albans' route.
Leave the motorway at Jn21A and follow the signs to St.Albans (A405).
At the roundabout where the M10 ends, do not follow the signs to St.Albans -
go right down the A414.
Follow the 'South of St. Albans' route.
Go up the A1(M) and follow the instructions above.
Go down the M10, go straight over the roundabout (A414) at the end of the M10 and then follow the 'South of St. Albans' route.
Exit at J9 and take the A5183 south.
Turn left onto the B487.
Turn right at the roundabout onto the A1081 south.
Eventually you reach the outskirts of St. Albans - turn left at the first traffic
lights you come to.
Go through the next set of traffic lights (King William IV).
Immediately after the traffic lights turn right, then immediately turn left,
then take the first right onto Charmouth Road.
When you reach a big roundabout with traffic lights, take the A1081 exit (signposted
to St. Albans).
Go through a smallish roundabout and then turn right at the next lights - Drakes
Drive.
Follow the road through several mini-roundabouts for a while until you reach
a a complex double mini-roundabout - junction with the A1057.
Go across the first mini-roundabout and immediately take the first left on the
next one - the only exit that is a residential road.
Down bumpy road to the end and turn left onto Sandpit Lane.
When you hit a mini-roundabout turn right into Charmouth Road.
Exit at J4 and turn immediately left (back on yourself down a dual carriageway
for a short distance).
At the roundabout, turn left under the A1(M), go straight over the roundabout
on the other side, go straight over the next little roundabout and then keep
going down the country lane.
At the end of the country lane, there is a mini-roundabout - turn right onto
Sandpit Lane.
Go through the next little-roundabout and the traffic lights. At the next mini-roundabout
after the lights, turn right into Charmouth Road.
Just go to M25 and follow that route.
Due to the non-transitive nature of J5 of the A1(M), the quickest route onto the A1(M) heading North is not the same as the quickest way off it heading South. So follow these instructions rather than reversing the A1(M) heading south instructions.
Turn left at the bottom of Charmouth Road on to sandpit Lane.
Go through a set of traffic lights and a mini roundabout and then turn left
at the next mini roundabout.
Keep going straight down this road and straight over the first little roundabout
that you come to.
When you reach the second roundabout near the A1 (M), take the left exit signposted
B197 that runs parallel to the A1(M).
At the next junction one of the exits take you straight onto the motorway (J5).
At the bottom of Charmouth Road (mini roundabout), turn left into Sandpit lane.
At the traffic lights, turn right.
At the double mini-roundabout, go straight over (Drakes Drive).
This curves round gradually to the right - at the end, turn left at the traffic
lights.
Go through a small roundabout and at the big roundabout, if going to M25 East, go straightover the roundabout (dual carriageway).
Otherwise, take the dual carriageway (A414) to the right and at at the next big roundabout:
